Hypnotherapy is an ancient science, the oldest evidence of which dates back thousands of years.-The science of hypnotherapy has it’s origins back in ancient history. As a therapy, it has become extremely popular and often recommended by the mainstream medicine. Today, hypnotherapists can be found in most major cities, often working alongside other health professionals.
Hypnotherapy is used by most people as a way of correcting an unwanted way of thinking. Many people suffering with panic attacks, excess weight, habitual smoking, phobias, etc. have found hypnotherapy to be an effective cure. The work of the therapist is performed when the subject is in a state of trance where communication is performed with the subconscious mind. When in this state of trance, the therapist can bypass the conscious mind and achieve the desired results.
Trance induction is not a complicated process. The ways of creating trance are numerous with the most popular being either concentration on a particular spot or swinging a watch or pendulum in front of the eyes. Specific patterns of speech will be employed by the therapist to assist the person into a trance state. Using words and phrases such as ‘allow’, ‘become aware of’ and ‘notice how’, enables the therapist to promote the trance state. Having achieved the trance state, the therapist will then make carefully worded suggestions to the subject to promote the desired change. When all the work is done, the subject returns to normal consciousness often by being counted out of the trance.
There are many different ways to achieve the trance state, and many ways to perform the procedure, however the basic pattern described is the same.
The length of therapy, i.e. the amount of sessions needed, depends greatly upon the nature of the issues to be addressed. Fears and phobias or smoking as a habit can easily be addressed in a single session. More deep-rooted problems will often require anywhere from three to five treatments for the process to be effective. The effects of the therapy can often be immediate, but for some the change is gradual as the person adjusts to their new way of being.
Deeply repressed problems, long forgotten in the subject’s subconscious are the cause of many problems treated by a hypnotherapist. By putting a person into a trance, the deeply repressed problems can be dealt with through communication with the person’s subconscious. The impact of past trauma can be effectively removed and a great sense of well-being returned.
Hypnotherapists help people heal from the past and see a postive future ahead. The results can be outstanding and the value priceless.
